Scotland's Road Safety Framework

Brake are a road safety charity and provide a free support service if you have been effected by bereavement, seriously injured, or helping a road crash victim.

Post-crash Response is one of the five pillars of the Safe System that is embedded within the Road Safety Framework to 2030. The Post-crash Response pillar covers a variety of points, from having effective and appropriate response to collisions, ensuring road victims receive appropriate medical care and that families of those killed or seriously injured are appropriately supported. The work that Brake do is fundamental to the last point.

Support to families

Further support that Brake offer is available on their website which includes a short book to read to help you with the grief, which aims to help you cope with your physical and mental wellbeing. The book is based on past experiences of people in the same situation and what helped them. There is also a book for children to read with an adult which helps to communicate important messages and encourage discussion and honesty between children and their carers.
